About

I’m Lane and this is my website. I love anything and everything relating to food. It’s a bit of an obsession. I wake up thinking about what I’m going to make, spend all free moments dreaming up grand meals, subscribe to half a dozen food magazines, and genuinely enjoy the grocery store. I may want to consider therapy as this is beginning to sound much more like a habit than a hobby. My favorite things are trying new ingredients and cooking everything from scratch. I need work on my presentation and photography, but they are areas I’m tackling with a vengeance.
I’m a huge fan of the slow food movement and really enjoy cooking recipes that take a long time to prepare and start with all unprocessed ingredients. I love Soup, Meat, Vegetables, Seafood, Citrus, Vinaigrette, and Garlic. In general, I am not a fan of any white sauces, mayonnaise, sour cream, Alfredo, etc are all cringe worthy. That said, I’m working on becoming a real grown up and am proud to say I can now eat a turkey sandwich if presented one that has been prepared with mayonnaise.
I live in Dallas with my husband, two children, and a miniature dachshund whose body tries to destroy all his red blood cells if he’s not eating his weight in chicken. I like to think Tower just got ticked off at me cooking for everyone else and not for him. My favorite thing in life is to cook for other people. If you’re in town, call me up, my table is always open to guests and we always have more than enough food. I started this website as a collection grounds for what and how I cook. I try not to repeat recipes unless I’ve improved them in some way. I’d love to write a cookbook someday and I love suggestions of what to cook. If you are looking for a recipe for something, send me an email to lane@dinnerandconversation.com and I’ll see what I can do.
Most of the recipes on this website are my own. They come out of my head and studying years and years of food magazines, cookbooks, the Food Network, and family for inspiration. If I use a recipe I found somewhere, I make sure to note that in the post and give proper credit. Everything on this website is copyright protected by me. The photos are all my own and may not be reused, reproduced or otherwise without specific written permission.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to enter them in the comments section or to email me directly. Please enjoy what you find here and more importantly, keep on cooking! Food is love.
